Artist Statement:
Internationally known for his published contemporary realist painting, Todd Krasovetz’s soft abstractions forge new artistic territories evoking the power, tempo and tonal complexity of musical composition. Born of a spontaneous process very close to Pollock’s ‘action painting’ which Krasovetz describes as ‘event painting,’ these bold and expressive large scale works on canvas trace back through the heroic lineages of Sargent, Matisse and Van Gogh. Working horizontally, Krasovetz’s process involves accelerating the drying time of the oil paint which he splashes freely into the artistic ether. Combinations of warm and cool hues emit contrasting notes that emerge as translucent and metallic layers resembling the ebb and flow of water. Ornate patterns and undisclosed narrative qualities embellish the plane. As a whole the portraits evoke a sense of fragmentation, memory and over-emotion, catalyzing around the evocative feminine mystique, which they take as their central theme.
Born in Frankfurt, Germany, Todd Krasovetz currently lives and works in San Diego, California.

Contemporary Oil Paintings, Portraits, Illustrations and much more.
As a professional artist, he is known and published for a realistic style of painting, and now looks to explore a Contemporary Abstract Expressionism style of work. Todd’s fine art is remarkable, unique and one of a kind. His influences can be tied back to the works of Sargent, Matisse, Van Gough and Pollock.
The Abstract Art style he produces resembles Pollock’s work by laying the canvas on the floor in a style that he refers to as, ‘Event Painting.’ The difference between the two styles is that the artist use gravity to develop his art through controlling the acceleration of drying times when the oil painting is drying. Then he applies oil paints which are splashed and infused together on textured canvas.
This extraordinarily spontaneous process of painting results in a fine art that has a strong sense of motion and a living feel that is characteristic of the work. The use of color is spectacular and complex; warm colors are layered and buried by transparent cool, hues that skim the surface layers creating both a translucent and metallic qualities.
It is the combination of the style and process that drives the arts composition. The energetic, forceful control of the paint is never contrived but is instead, very organic and natural. These works are like a rhythmic score of music evoking a sense of power, tempo, balance and sophistication.
